Bill Winter, the originator of Corriform, had worked for many years in the construction industry, selling EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) insulation.
He had observed construction practices throughout the UK, not least methods of shuttering concrete foundations, and it had seemed that the UK had a more traditional approach to construction in comparison to other European countries such as Germany, Holland and Belgium.
Bill had become open minded towards new ways of building in the UK, should an opportunity present itself.

Laminating an EPS void former with extruded polypropylene is a procedure that allows a polystyrene mould be removed and reused. This versatility would lead Bill to a new solution of forming concrete foundations:
Asked by an acquaintance for a quick and practical way of shuttering a small workshop extension, Bill decided to put the versatile polypropylene to the test.
The polypropylene board was cut and creased into a ‘U’ shaped channel/box and laid into the trench. Steel reinforcement was placed inside and the concrete poured: A unique sacrificial shutter!

Corriform was born. It is the ORIGINAL Polypropylene Shuttering System and since it’s very first trial has proven to be one of the most economical and adaptable permanent shuttering products on the market and a big shift away from time consuming, temporary timber and steel shuttering.
